Privacy.

This is a translation. The German version is legally binding.

In short: the website sets no cookies and measures nothing. The app has no access to the internet. What it hears never leaves your phone. Below you find the full details.

1. Controller

Raphael Jung
Stargarder Straße 58
10437 Berlin
Germany
Email: hello@babycallsyou.app

No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.

2. The website

Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted on the “Cloudflare Pages” service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit it, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, amount of data transferred, the previous page (referrer), browser and operating system. This serves delivery, secure operation and protection against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a working and secure website. We do not analyse this data ourselves. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Cloudflare. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures an adequate level of protection for transfers to the USA.

No cookies, no tracking

The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising services and embeds no third-party content. Fonts and images are served from our own server. No data is sent to Google or other third parties when you visit.

Contact by email

Emails to our address are forwarded to our mailbox via the “Cloudflare Email Routing” service and are not stored there. If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer you. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR if it concerns the app or a purchase, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete your message once your request is settled, unless statutory retention periods apply.

Link to Google Play

The “Google Play” buttons are plain links. Only when you click one do you leave our website, and Google's privacy policy applies.

3. The app

No internet access

BabyCallsYou has no permission to connect to the internet. It therefore cannot send any data to us or to third parties. There is no account, no cloud, no advertising and no analytics.

Microphone

While the app is listening, it continuously measures the volume in the room. The audio signal is analysed briefly in memory and discarded immediately. It is not recorded, stored or transmitted. When the app places a call, the person called listens live over the normal phone network, like in any phone call. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, as this is the function you use the app for.

Phone number and contact

The number to call and, if you wish, the contact's name are stored only on your phone until you change them or delete the app. When you choose a contact, Android's contact picker opens. The app only sees the one contact you pick and has no access to the rest of your address book.

Calls

The app places normal phone calls through your mobile provider. Your provider processes the usual connection data under its own privacy policy. Your plan's call charges apply.

Permissions

You can revoke any permission in Android's settings. Without microphone and phone calls the app cannot do its job.

Purchase via Google Play

Download, purchase and payment are handled by Google Play. Google processes your account and payment data as a separate controller. We only receive the order and statistics information Google provides to developers, such as order number, country and time of purchase. If you agreed in Android to share diagnostic data with developers, Google also shows us aggregated, anonymous crash reports. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) and (c) GDPR, for example for tax retention duties.

4. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). Just send us an email.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.

5. Changes

We update this policy when the app, the website or the law changes. The version published here applies.
